Amlin Post Office Closed After 70+ Years of Service

The days of quick and easy post office access has come to an end as the United States Postal Service (USPS) has closed the post office in Amlin at 6931 Rings Road, 1 mile west of Cramer’s Crossing. Amlin has had a post office for more than 70 years.

In July 2025, the Postal Service mailed a notice to area residents asking for public comment concerning relocation of the office and that a search was underway for a suitable property for a new office. This was after the owner of the Rings Road property, Bladro Holdings, LLC, decided to not renew the USPS’s lease after it expired in November 2024. The post office continued to operate on “hold-over status” until April 2026 when the office was vacated. Bladro Holdings plans for property are not known at this time but with future development poised to begin in the area, strategic land-holding is suspected and not unusual.

It was eventually decided not to relocate the Amlin post office and operations were consolidated into the Dublin Station office on Emerald Parkway. Amlin customers now have post office boxes at the Emerald Parkway location and the counter rep also was moved to the Dublin post office.

Street Tree Pruning on Sumner Loop Planned

The City of Dublin Forestry Department has a goal to prune all street trees in the City at least once every 5 years. For the 2026 season, the Zelkova trees on Sumner Loop will be pruned.

The exact date for the pruning is to be determined. The best time to prune is the dormant season from late fall to early spring, but the City will prune trees anytime throughout the year to meet annual pruning objectives. Street trees along Stockton way were pruned in 2025.

Proposed Avery Crossing Project Reviewed by Dublin Planning & Zoning Commission on Dec. 11th

Developer CASTO has submitted a Concept Plan for a mixed-use proposal with residential, commercial and open space on about 127 acres southwest of the Rings Road and Avery Road intersection, which includes the Ponderosa Mobile Home Estates. This area is directly south of Cramer’s Crossing and will have a significant impact on our neighborhood when built. The site is zoned R, Rural. The Planning & Zoning Commission (PZC) reviewed the concept at the December 11, 2025 meeting and provided non-binding feedback before any rezoning request is filed. To view the current development plan click here.

Public feedback on projects like this is always encouraged. In-person comments can be given at PZC meetings or homeowners can submit their comments online by clicking here.

A future rezoning application would be necessary to accommodate the proposed development. Development with rezoning of a site is generally a three-step process:

  1. Concept Plan – early, non-binding feedback at the formative stage of a project (where we are now)
  2. Preliminary Development Plan/Rezoning – PZC review and recommendation to City Council
  3. Final Development Plan – final planning review and approval

To view the meeting agenda (which contains links to detailed information about the proposed development) click here. There is also a Facebook group, Protect Ballantrae and Beyond, that serves as a communication hub to share information on Dublin developments and initiatives that impact area neighborhoods. The group is private and requires joining to view the posts.

The Avery/Rings Roundabout Is Open – Cosgray Road Also Now Open

The new Avery/Rings/Cara Roundabout – City of Dublin Photo

The long summer of road construction headaches is finally over. The new Avery/Rings/Cara roundabout opened August 8th and Cosgray Road between Hayden Run Road and Rings Road has reopened to traffic.

Finishing touches on the new roundabout continue with everything planned to be completed before the end of the year.

Another bit of good news is that the City is working on a separate project to install a street light at the intersection of Rings, Pensworthy and Bonanza. According to the the City of Dublin Engineering Office, that may happen by year’s end.

The $6.2 million roundabout project brings a bit of traffic relief and finally eliminate the dangerous Avery & Rings intersection. The project includes new sidewalks, a shared use path, a pedestrian bridge over Cramer Creek and street lighting. The bike path that runs along Rings Road has also been extended westward and now connects with Ballantrae.

The roundabout is considered an Interim Intersection Improvement project since the widening of Avery Road (and the Tuttle Crossing Blvd. extension) will not be happening in the near future. According to Paul Hammersmith, City of Dublin Director of Engineering, “the extension is not currently programmed in Dublin’s 5-Year Capital Improvements Program (CIP). The CIP is evaluated and updated annually and the (Tuttle) extension is always discussed as part of that update. Given the cost of the extension, the City of Dublin desires to have other agencies participate in funding the extension considering its regional benefit to the surrounding transportation network.”

The portion of Avery Road in the City of Columbus (from the CSX railroad tracks northward to Avery Run Road) is tentatively scheduled for widening beginning in the Fall of 2026 with completion in late 2028. Click here for details. The plan by the City of Dublin is to also widen the remaining 2-lane portion of Avery Road (just north of Avery Run to the new roundabout) at the same time as the City of Columbus completes their project, not waiting on the Tuttle Crossing Blvd. extension. The only piece of Avery still not widened after this project wraps up will be the small section from Corporate Center Drive/Blunden Road to just past Cramer’s Crossing Drive.

The Resident Letter from the City of Dublin which outlines the now finished roundabout project can be found here.
